COMP Swap is fully non-custodial — it does not know your balance until you connect your EVM wallet. Before wallet connection, all balances display as 0 COMP. Once you connect via MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, or WalletConnect, COMP Swap reads your wallet's public address from the blockchain and displays your real COMP balance. Your private key is never shared with COMP Swap.

Yes — completely non-custodial. COMP Swap never holds, controls, or has access to your COMP tokens or any other assets at any time. All swaps are executed as direct on-chain EVM transactions from your wallet to the DEX smart contracts. COMP Swap is purely a routing interface. If COMP Swap disappeared tomorrow, your funds would remain in your wallet, accessible through any EVM-compatible tool.

A private key is the cryptographic secret that proves ownership of an EVM wallet and authorizes all transactions. It is mathematically generated from your 12 or 24-word seed phrase. Anyone with your private key can take all your COMP and other tokens instantly. Never share your private key or seed phrase with any website, application, or person — including COMP Swap. Legitimate DEX protocols never ask for your private key. Store your seed phrase offline, written on paper, in a secure location.

Your seed phrase is a sequence of 12 or 24 words that can regenerate your private key and restore access to your wallet. Best practices for seed phrase security: Write it on paper — never digital. Store in multiple secure, physically separate locations. Never photograph, type into websites, store in cloud services, or share via email or messaging. Never enter your seed phrase into any website or app claiming you need to "verify" your wallet. This is always a scam. COMP Swap never asks for your seed phrase.

COMP Swap supports all major EVM-compatible wallets: MetaMask (browser extension + mobile), Coinbase Wallet (self-custody), WalletConnect (200+ mobile wallets), Ledger (hardware wallet via MetaMask or direct), Trezor (hardware via MetaMask), Rabby (browser extension), Trust Wallet, Rainbow, and any EIP-1193 compatible wallet. COMP Swap charges a 0.3% protocol fee on all swaps, distributed to COMP stakers and liquidity providers. The swap widget shows the exact fee amount in COMP before you confirm. Additionally, Ethereum network gas fees apply — typically $0.50–$5 depending on network congestion. On Arbitrum or Polygon, gas is under $0.05. The CoinGecko live price widget shows real-time pricing, so the displayed output accounts for both the protocol fee and estimated gas.

COMP Swap integrates the CoinGecko public API to fetch live COMP price data in real time. The price ticker in the swap widget updates continuously with the latest COMP/USD rate, 24-hour price change percentage, and market cap data from CoinGecko. This ensures the swap calculations — USD value of input, estimated output value, and rate display — are always based on accurate current market data, not stale or manipulated prices.

The COMP Swap widget defaults to 1,000 COMP as the input amount to provide a realistic starting example. 1,000 COMP at the current live CoinGecko price shows you the USD value and estimated ETH or stablecoin output in real time. You can change this amount to any value — from fractional COMP to large positions. The output and USD values update instantly as you type, using live CoinGecko pricing and DEX routing rates.

Deposit your COMP tokens into the COMP Swap staking contract via the Staking section. Your COMP is locked in the contract (you retain ownership and can unstake anytime). The protocol collects 0.3% on every swap and distributes a portion to all stakers proportional to their share of the staking pool. Rewards accumulate per Ethereum block and are claimable at any time as COMP tokens directly to your wallet. No lock-up period. No minimum.

The current COMP Swap staking APY is 12.4%, paid in COMP tokens. APY fluctuates based on total swap volume (higher volume = more fees distributed) and total COMP staked (more stakers = lower individual APY). The staking dashboard shows your estimated weekly rewards based on your stake amount and current APY. Historical APY has ranged between 8%–22% depending on market conditions and protocol activity.

Yes. COMP Swap's staking mechanism uses a delegation system that preserves your governance rights while earning rewards. Staked COMP voting power is delegated back to your wallet address, so you can still propose and vote on Compound protocol governance decisions. You need 100,000 COMP delegated to your address to submit a governance proposal. Delegated votes from stakers count toward the 400,000 vote quorum required for a proposal to pass.

COMP Swap supports all major EVM-compatible chains where COMP has liquidity: Ethereum Mainnet (primary), Arbitrum One (low gas), Optimism, Polygon, Base, and BNB Chain. The chain selector in the app lets you switch networks. COMP can be bridged between chains through the Bridge tab using LayerZero cross-chain messaging. Gas fees vary by chain — Arbitrum offers the best combination of security and low fees for COMP swaps.

Slippage is the difference between the expected swap price and the actual execution price due to price movement between submission and settlement. COMP Swap defaults to 0.5% slippage tolerance, adjustable in settings (0.1%–3%). If price moves beyond your tolerance before the transaction is mined, it reverts safely and your COMP is returned (you still pay the gas fee for the failed transaction). For large COMP swaps, consider splitting into smaller amounts to minimize price impact.

COMP Swap routes swaps through the best available EVM DEX liquidity for each trade. Uniswap V3 is the primary source for COMP/ETH and COMP/USDC liquidity. The routing algorithm checks Uniswap V3, Curve, SushiSwap, Balancer, and 1inch aggregator simultaneously and executes through whichever gives the best output. For the COMP/ETH pair specifically, Uniswap V3's 0.3% fee tier has the deepest liquidity — typically $25M+ in the pool.

There is no enforced minimum for swaps or staking on COMP Swap. However, practical minimums apply: for swaps, very small amounts (under 0.01 COMP) may result in gas costs exceeding the swap value — the interface warns you about this. For staking, the minimum is 0.001 COMP, but staking very small amounts means gas costs may exceed rewards for months. The staking calculator shows your break-even point based on current gas prices and APY.

Yes — through the Pool tab. Deposit COMP paired with ETH, USDC, or USDT into liquidity pools built on Uniswap V3 and Curve. As a liquidity provider (LP), you earn your proportional share of the 0.3% swap fee on every trade through that pool. Top COMP pools currently offer 16%–22% APY from trading fees alone. You receive LP tokens representing your position, which can be redeemed at any time. LPs also earn additional COMP Swap protocol rewards.

Impermanent loss occurs when the relative price of COMP vs. the paired token (ETH, USDC) diverges from the price at deposit time. If COMP increases significantly against ETH, your LP position gives you less COMP and more ETH than if you'd simply held COMP. The loss is "impermanent" because it reverses if prices return to the original ratio. COMP Swap shows real-time impermanent loss estimates before you deposit. Stablecoin pairs (COMP/USDC) have lower IL risk than COMP/ETH volatile pairs.

Use the Bridge tab in COMP Swap. Select Ethereum as source and Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, or Base as destination. Enter your COMP amount and confirm. The bridge uses LayerZero cross-chain messaging — your COMP is locked on Ethereum and an equivalent amount of bridged COMP is minted on the destination chain. Bridge transfers take approximately 5–20 minutes depending on the destination chain. A small bridge fee applies in addition to gas.

EVM transactions are atomic — they fully succeed or fully fail with no partial execution. If your COMP swap fails (slippage exceeded, insufficient gas, or smart contract revert), your COMP stays in your wallet. You lose only the ETH gas fee for the failed transaction (typically $0.20–$2). COMP Swap shows the transaction hash so you can verify the outcome on Etherscan. Common failure causes: gas too low, slippage tolerance too tight, or network congestion. The interface suggests gas settings to minimize failures.

Even if your computer is completely compromised by malware, the attacker cannot extract your COMP private key. Every transaction requires physical approval on the device. For COMP holdings above $1,000–$5,000, a Ledger or Trezor is strongly recommended. COMP Swap is fully compatible with Ledger via MetaMask integration — connect Ledger through MetaMask to use COMP Swap.

COMP Swap's Activity Rewards program distributes COMP tokens to active protocol users. Every swap, stake, and liquidity action earns reward points proportional to USD volume. Points are tallied weekly and converted to COMP rewards distributed from the protocol treasury. Rewards appear in your wallet dashboard after connecting. There is no lock-up — COMP rewards are claimable immediately when distributed. Larger volume actions earn proportionally more rewards.

In the Staking section, click Unstake and enter the amount to withdraw. Confirm the transaction in your wallet. COMP is returned to your wallet immediately — there is no lock-up period or waiting time. Any unclaimed staking rewards are automatically claimed at the same time as unstaking. You pay one gas transaction for the unstake + claim combined. Partial unstaking is supported — you don't need to unstake your entire position at once.
